Caulk question

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Caulk question

Post by Finally »

Where the ceiling meets the walls...what brand of "soundproof" caulk can be painted. How difficult is it to finish the caulk to look like a normal mudded joint.

You don't - you caulk the joints in the 1/4" gap you leave around the perimeter, layer by layer - then you can use flexible plastic inside corner mold and LIGHTLY mud it in place for a finished look without completely rigid coupling between wall and ceiling.

As far as I know, there aren't any good acoustic-rated caulks that should be painted; their properties should be that they never skin over, this keeps them pliant and maintains airtight seals so important to maximum isolation... Steve
