How close to the neighbors?

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

How close to the neighbors?

Post by Dingo »

Using some of the construction techniques outlined on this fantastic resource of a forum, combined with the plethora of knowledge of the members here, I'd like to ask one question:

Let's assume I'm recording drums at midnight or mixing at a reasonable loud volume...

How close can I build my studio to the neighbor's brick house, without them being able to hear what I'm doing, & therefore not call the riot patrol due to my noise pollution?

I've always been curious about this, but now I need to know...

:)

Cheers,
Dingo

Dingo:

With everythign you have not told us, aqs close as you want. All it takes is money (and a foundation to support the weight :D )

Seriously, all it tkaes is money. What is your budget?

Better yet read and follow the sticky at the top of the forum "before you post".

Right. With the right mass-air-mass formula, you can be right there. But mass = money and air = space (and money). So, I guess it is a money-money-money formula! ;-)
