Glad I could help put things back in perspective a little - your analog stuff will amaze you once it's up and "dialed in" - good wire, gain staging, decks maintained, etc - to follow the KISS method you may want only a stand-alone CD burner in your system instead of ANY computer stuff - you'll know more as you get things going.
Acoustically, a few gobo's and pieces of absorbent here and there will straighten out things enough to make any space usable - sound PROOFing is another thing, but I've worked between that for several years. Beats having NOTHING for sure.
Hang in there; I know you'd be even more miserable if you WEREN'T trying to do this (How's THAT for encouragement??!?) -
My philosophy - there are two parts to any goal: The journey, and the destination. If you're not going to enjoy the journey, then forget the goal because the destination may change before you get there.
This is why I try to do, or at least plan, something I enjoy each and every day. If I make the mistake of telling myself "When I get THIS, I'll be happy", then I'm SCREWED DOUBLE - first, I may not EVER get it, and second, it may not be "as advertised" -
If my method works for you, by all means feel free to use it as is or "modify" it to your own benefit.
Now, get off yer ass and go do ANY little thing that makes you happy... Steve
