hi "moderator" !
yes I am not suicidal ... it was one of my very first point ... is my ceiling strong enough to support such a weight !!!
for the sound inside it is quite the same as before ... 2nite I will be doing the first "répèt" with the band (drums, bass, guitars, electronic stuff) ... so I will be able to say a bit more ..
but as for now the sound seems a little more precise
The finition is not done and I think I will put the old decorative sagex as I kept it ...
I know sagex wont change isolation or soundproofing but as said it seems that the sound is still good ! maybe due to the 2 columns and also the fact that I did some boxes to "emprison" the many pipes I had ...
before this hard work I was able to hear the water through the pipes .. now with the boxes (fermacell, idikell) I hear nothing, good point !
bye

it is strange the more you go with soundproofing the more you want silence !!!
I am also thinking to do something on the above floor ... for example to put idikell (again that vynil heavy expensive thing but good for soundproofing) and then a wood parquet ...
but this time I am afraid that these extra kilos can make my house goes in a crash ... what do you think ? if I add 10 kilos per m2 on the above can this be dangerous ?
sometimes when I see all your beautiful plans of non symetrical rooms I want also that but I dont think it will suit my way of working ...
but this next week-end I have to go first with the second door subject ...

I am refering to your websites offer to enlighten visitors with the "secrets" of its construction. Your first attempt at sound transmission loss calculation apparently did not achieve your goal. What ELSE would be its "secret"? Now you are here to qualify your SECOND solution. I find it humorous when I see pretentious displays of confidense in ones ability to outwit physics. Thats all. Good luck with the second attempt. And the third.
Oh, btw, hardhats are cheap.
alright, breaks over , back on your heads......

--> HEY MAN ! the first solution as you said is perfect for stopping noise transmission to the neighbours. So yes it is perfect for me.
second solution : the ceiling it was for the sound that stays inside the house and that can be annoying for my family ... They are 2 different problems .. by the way I really dont like your kind of writing if it is for posting such things you better say nothing ... I never say I am the king of physics and so on ... Lets hope you were just on the humor side ...

first "répèt" yesterday night and isolation is correct ... I say correct and not perfect cause it is clear that now most of the sound stays in the stud.
but it is not finished I have to fix finitions to the ceiling ... the band like the sound they find it more precise ... It is clear that now I can really hear high frequencies and the sound seems more precise than before ... Seems I dont have flutter or things like that
Lets see when the finition will be made ..
Have to do something for the door (second one) cause it clearly appears now that everything passes there ... The more silent it gets the more we want !

HEY MAN, like I said, I found it humorous. If you don't like MY brand of wry humor, ignor it as I ment no harm.
The point was the web site photo and text describing a "SECRET" seemed pretentious, as it appeared you were here describing what you intend on doing to FIX your construction SECRET. To me, if someone has the gall to publicly display their talents as a studio designer, and then call their construction as "SECRET", (as if you are the first to discover physics), then that tickled my funny bone. Thats all. Like most people here understand, after the fact repair of this type of construction is both expensive, and time consuming. AND you seemed to be telling people what you intend to do, REGARDLESS of everything I've read regard to this subject that says the opposite. However, because of my lack of familiarity with the materials you are using, I may be mistaken, as I know of no sheetgoods that provide ceiling decoupling, nor do I know the circumstances. So don't get your dander up. Many people interpret things differently, me included.

maybe we dont have the same meaning of the word SECRET ... I should have more used "what is behind the studio" or "the coulisse of the stud" ...
for me it was "secret" in the way people dont think what kind of work was done but certainly NOT meaning I give you the science of how to do it ...
and if it was secret in the way you mean I wont post pictures
what is on the site is the construction of the stud and what I posted here was about the update for the ceiling ...
so maybe you get confused about a use of one word ... but clear I dont like your way of humor but nobody can like everybody so no probs for me have a good day !
PS : maybe it also because I talk french and my english is not so good that you can interpret things differently ...

Hello pulse, thats valid. Same way with stud. I was confused all through your post. Stud in my language is a vertical framing member in a wall, that is wood or metal., It appears your word must mean "studio", correct? Misinterpretation of words have started more than one war Sorry. My wife says I have a weird sense of humor anyway. Who knows. Doesn't seem that way to me. Afterall, she likes mayo on a hotdog.
