Hi there,
it's been a while since my last post, and the construction has slowed down a bit…. well, I've been quite busy at the studio where I work so can't really complain as that helps financing the project as well as keeps me in the loop …but I wish I was much more further down the line with the build as i seem soooooo freaking distant from the finishing line…
….oh well…head down and onwards we go !
Time for me to post some pics of where I am at:
1) Rear bass traps (that will house acoustic hangers):

2) Rear sloped wall (between the two corner bass traps):
This is around 18-20 degrees splayed from the front wall.
A couch riser will (more than likely) go between the corner traps so I decided to start splaying it upwards from a bit above where I figured out the couch's higher point will be (as I guess/hope the couch will act as an additional trap for low mid frequencies

).

I'm still undecided if this rear sloped wall should be:
a) a slot resonator ?
b) superchunk ?
c) a mix of slot resonators and superchunk ?
d) more (possibly too small) hangers ?
Any suggestions extremely welcome (as usual) !

3) Speaker soffits:
These follow John's design (or at least I hope so) and at the moment are just temporary attached to the lateral walls.

I still need to install the hangers in the cavity beside the right soffit and so I need to be able to move that soffit out of the way in order to gain space to maneuver the hangers inside there

4) Inner leaf ceiling:
This is made out of five inside out pieces.
At the present I just made the framing and then leant them on top of the walls.
I will later take them down one at the time and install the gyprock on their back and then lift them back up in position.
I will bolt them to each other and caulk between where the pieces meet.

BUT before doing that I'm waiting to finish the framing of the live room walls as well.
This is primarily because I desperately need to get rid of as much material as possible, in order to re-gain some floor space… you know, working in the same (small) place where all the stuff is stored had made the whole experience much more difficult that what it was already !
Secondly, I (still !) need to figure out what to do with my HVAC systems, which will very likely have silencers installed between the ceiling beams.
I have to admit that I'm really dreading this step as I know very little about it and I'm a bit confused !!
Comments? Suggestions? Insults?
Thank you very much in anticipation !
Ciao !
