Subs..placement

So many questions!

Although low freqs seem to be non-directional, as in its hard to tell where they originate, is there a good spot for placement anyway?

My System includes a pair of KRK K-rock passives on stands and a 10" JBL powered sub. The sub is under the console just in front of my feet, pointed at the back wall.

This sounds real nice from the mix position but I'm getting a lot of build up in the corners and where the floor and the wall meet. I'm in the process of adding some low freq absorbers and traps, but wonder if you have a recomended placement for single powered subs.

Thanks again,

Where you have the sub now seems fine - the bass buildup in the corners has nothing to do with the position of the sub.

Wow, you're the first person I've heard with monitoring close to mine - I use the K-ROK's with a Yamaha dual-8" sub with 24 dB filter, and it works great. Same basic placement, only my sub is behind the desk next to the wall.

Following John's statement, I try not to mix while standing in the corner, unless I've been VERRRRY bad... :=) Steve
