My Ceiling

I'm not sure what to do for my ceiling.
It's just shy of 8'.
I was just going to buy those $.57 1'x1' tile and cover the ceiling with those. But I've seen in John's 'Under Construction' section that some
people are making up panels out of 703 and putting those on the ceiling.
What should I do?
PS-i have hardwood floors

Those "$0.57" tiles are usually quite thin and are probably not going to give you a whole lot in terms of absorption. Maybe enough in the >2kHz range, but not much else. (Read: Low-pass filter.)
A 1" 703 panel would be much better in terms of acoustical benefit. If you have the headroom, a 2" 703 panel is fairly broadband from 125 Hz up.

Jeff is absolutely correct. Cheap tiles are useless for acoustic treatment. Rigid fiberglass is much more effective - the thicker the better. And you also need plenty of it across the room corners, not just on or below the ceiling.
