So I'm trying to post my studio I designed in Google Sketchup but the filesize is way too large when I try to post it using the file attachment thing. Am I doing something wrong?

No you are not doing anything wrong.
Sketchup remembers everything you import into it.

Goto ; Window/Model info/Statistics/purge all

and save.

hmm... It was originally 28 MB, after I purged it, it was 10.5 MB. On the forum it says the limit is 500 KB. Not sure how I am gonna get it that small.

well - you've obviously filled it with complex components that are good for show but aren't required to show us your space.

hmm... I've removed everything from the model except some of the acoustic panels on the walls. So now I just have walls and acoustic panels in the file and it's still 8.6 MB. And it's way smaller than some of the SKP files I have seen on here so I am not sure what else I am doing wrong.

Did you purge the file after you remove everything? Or perhaps you have a lot of 3D text on it? 3D text takes up huge amounts of memory. Also things like drum kits, furniture, people, equipment, instruments, etc. can take up stacks of memory. Anything that has a lot of detailed geometry in it can do that to your model.

Or maybe you just built it in extreme detail?

Maybe you could post a couple of pics here, so that we can see what might be causing the issue.

try zooming out a long way - you may have some other components that you missed.
My final skp files are seldom over 8 meg.
