1093 cubic feet room tratment

Post by chew »

Hi, i would appreciate your opinion about room treatment in this room
it is 13.12' lengh by 8.46' width by 9.84' height
I will be using this room to write, mix and to record vocals and maybe guitars using mics,

I would like to make it good enough to mix, I,ve read that to angle the side walls won't be the best solution, because of that i was planing to put superchunks traps in each corner.

what do you think about the space size?
because of the size and the room function, how would you treat this room to make it good and functional?

excuseme if I didn't explain it clear, and let me know, i'm still learning english
thankyou

Please read the forum RULES (stickies) that can be found at this link:
http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=17

Please correct your initial post to conform with these rules and guidelines. Many here will not only NOT help while waiting in respect for owners and other better qualified persons to proceed, but will simply ignore these type of posts completely.

You may want to immediately ask "what is it that I have missed". Most often it is as simple as including your geographical location in your profile.

Trust me in that the more you know the better others can help you and that the answer to that question is in the forum rules linked page.

Until then, good luck,

Brien

And now...

"I,ve read that to angle the side walls won't be the best solution, because of that i was planing to put superchunks traps in each corner."

This is not an "either or" type of situation. Angling the early reflection walls is highly regarded around here and so are the use of broad band absorption (super chunks) in the front corners of the room.

Often the two go hand in hand, when the walls are canted you will have hollowed out space that did not exist before you moved (angled) the walls. So you add absorption behind this wall.

Please excuse my english...I'm in the U.S.

:) Yeah, we know that you guys in the USA don't actually speak English.... It's something vaguely similar, but it clearly can't be considered as rising to the same level as REAL English!!!! :)

( Sorry! Couldn't resist that!)

No te preocupes tanto, Chew!

You are ´xCused!

(He lives in Mexico, so I thought it would be nice to write in Spanish, and try to make him feel a little more at home...)

What did you say in Spanish is what I mean...

Being @ home around here means speaking the Queens English right?

Rough translation:

"Don't worry too much, Chew. You can just carry on using this same thread. It takes time to get used to the people around here. Some of us have a sense of humor that is a little twisted. As a group we are very interested in helping, but so MANY people arrive here without reading the basic rules that sometimes some folks lose their patience: But after a while, you get used to the idiosyncrasies of each person here....

Anyway, welcome!"

I appreciate your translation. Like you said, we each want to help, but even here in America, I haven't learned Spanish yet.

Thank you Stuart.

Thanks soundman,

here is what I will start with, plus a sofa in the back,
All the traps are boradband (4'' thick with a wood frame)
The corner traps are filled with rock whool triangle chunks with a 24'',
If i put 32'' corner traps instead of 24'' will it significant improve the sound in the room?
Should I use more broadband traps, bass traps or both?

Chew, you surely did the homework. That looks perfect to me. Why dont you go ahead and build that and then measure how it sounds? If you need anything else you can build them later but thats a GREAT start
