Hello all
On the plus side I am in the planning stage for a singing/media room.
On the negitive side the garage where this will be shares a wall with my mother-in-laws bedroom.
I am not up to dimensions yet but I would like to know what is available here in Australia such as green glue or quietrock.
I found Green glue here but it was $365 for a 12tube box where it is about $150 in USA (even though the AU dollar is worth more than the US dollar at the moment).
Thanks in advance for any info you can give on these products or similar products that are sold in aus .... without a 150% mark up

These products have a purpose...and they work with some success but as an old man once said, everything matters.
The shared wall...what is this wall made of...

The wall is just a standard internal wall with basic jyprock on both sides and no insulation.
I have at least six weeks to work out what way to go before I can lay my hands on this space but money will definatley be a consideration so im trying to find out what the best products cost and working back from there as these prices will change the size of my room in a room or maybe the materials I use.
When I am up to posting a purposed plan the mother-in-laws room will be marked with a "here be dragons".

you probably want to consider what levels and frequencies will be involved with your room - it's very likely going to take a lot more than some constrained layer damping to make sure your media room thundering epic battle scenes at 3am isn't a problem in the adjoining bedroom.

Well as far as sound goes there will be no live intruments and at this point sound will be comming from a 500w rms 5.1 speaker set that bottoms out at 100HZ. I may get better speakers at some point but it is not going to be included at this stage.
I plan to sing, play computer games and watch movies in this room.

The shared wall will have to be modified. Most likely, example gratis, remove the existing sheathing on the build side, beef up the wall/add typical wall insulation/frame an interior wall decoupled from the existing shared wall and reverse the material installation.
But we still need some more layout information, windows, door, first floor or second floor, concrete, wood floor, etc. etc. in order to continue with a positive isolation design.

Double garage with a concrete floor, first floor, no windows and one door in the opposite corner to where I want to build my room.
After reading these forums for quite some time I had already planned to put a second layer on the dragon side of the wall and either do a decoupled wall with insulation or use the rails with the rubber mounts and insulation. But I’m trying to work out what we have available in Australia to put between the gyprock like green glue but not $360 and also wondering what acoustic gyprock is available/affordable here as these factors will make a huge difference in what I hope/plan to build as the budget has to be passed by the minister for war and finance (my wife).
