questions for bass traps

control room:
should i make a large bass trap with about a 4" gap on one wall if i would not be able to do the same on the other side to keep it symmetrical, but instead maybe a corner trap
do corner traps need to be air tight
Live room:
i have the opposite wall of my control room which is roughly 10' high x 11' wide, the existing structure is actually a garage door that is 8' x 8' itself, with an open frame structure on the inside. currently i just have plywood leaning against the wall, but i am curios if it would be ideal to turn the whole wall into a huge base trap, possiple a panel trap, would this be succesful if done correct.
last question, kind of for ethain winer, but please comment on the idea whoever you are.
in regard to covering rock wool with fabric to make it atrractive and not messy, would painting the fabric possibly work?
