About DIY speakers

Hi all!
This is my first post in this interesting forum.
I try to make some music in my home studio and I am looking for plans on DIY monitors (nearfield).
First I would like to thank you for the Killatone project. I find it very interesting and will probably try to make a pair for myself.
I am also looking forward to the promised two way system.
I have been building speakers for soo many years now, starting with big bass horns and Piezo tweeters
Now I have realized that guessing just won't do it, so I am looking for ready and tested plans.
Currently I have a set of the DIY EFE speakers for mixing which I find very good for the money but I am also interested in moving further towards better and more detailed sound.
I have seen plans for Dickason's monitor project LDC6 that look interesting but probably won't provide very deep bass and they are not nearfield shielded either. Have anyone tried or heard them?
Would it be possible to DIY something at least in the qualities of Genelec 1030 or Mackie 824 (but passive) for reasonable money?
