My builder is a bit confused about the inside out wall design, especially where one wall meets the next on right angles.

I have come up with the following drawing to show him what I mean. Does this look OK to you guys?

I thought that by using long screws rather than nails it would pull the walls togeather making for a better seal.

John, that should be OK with the relatively light wallboard layers you're using - if they were heavier, that wood joint would limit wall performance. As is, you've got about the equivalent mass of two layers of 15mm gypsum where the 4x2's join, since wood is lighter than gypsum by a bit.

The long screws and caulking thoroughly shouldn't hurt your performance in this case... Steve
