Hey guys, is there any standard about what kind of surface to put between the monitor soffits (middle of front wall)? Absorption or diffusion?

Sorry for bad English, thank in advance!

How are your existing soffits constructed? Any pictures?

Diffusion should really only be used if you have a surround system, because the speakers will be firing away from the front wall in a stereo set up. There are exceptions to this... it all depends on your whole room design concept.

Sometimes it’s a mix of reflective and absorptive, sometimes just reflective... it all depends.

Tell us more about your design and we can help you more

There is also the Soft Soffit or Pseudo Soffit or even Partial Soffit......

Hey guys thanks for the reply.

You can see the room here http://johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic ... 9&start=30

I didn’t designed from the beginning the front part between the speakers to be a soffit but I guess I could somehow do it if that’s what it needs. I just don’t know if it needs to be absorptive or reflective, but I would guess it should be absorption only as early reflections could not be treated between the speakers, same on the floor close to the speakers. Any help???
Thanks in advance!
