tube trap help

I have built some tube traps based on the Gruop DIY design with some mods. link here: http://ic.net/%7Ejtgale/diy2.htm
I built an internal frame that is 36" high, with 20" diameter ends connected by four 1x2s. I will wrap the insulation (it is 20" ID, 1" thick Knauf pipe insulation) around this frame and cap them with 23" finished wood. I have the frames built but that's it.
The support frame is similar to this: http://www.geocities.com/jonrisch/basstrap.htm
My question is should I fill the inner void with regular pink stuff? Will this help? Or is that a waste of time and money?
Thanks,
James
