I'm starting to work plans, but don't know much about room angles, treatments, acoustics, etc...

The attachment shows my current garage (22'x28') and part of my basement (the purple dashed line shows the current wall between them).
The circles are lally columns.

After reading some info on the saecollege site, recommended minimum ceiling height is 2.4 meters or 7'10" roughly. Chances are I will need to use a drop ceiling here due to ductwork and carrying beams. That will get me down to about 6'-8". I wonder if this is a problem.

I'm also wondering about control room size and if relative locations of rooms are good. From a design/ergonomics standpoint, I like the way I would be able to see performers from the control room, but I'll take any input at this point.

That's looking Ok ChuckU - those jackposts will need to be isolated or all the slound will go straight up them and into your ceiling area so why not incorporate that post near the controil rrom into the control room wall, which will mean extending the control room forward making it slightly larger.

You really need double walls to get good isolation so place the post in the cavity between the walls.

also you could make a wall from Iso 1 to next to the door to create a sound lock into the studio??

Thanks John, for the reply. I like the idea of extending the control room any way I can, so I'll see where enclosing the post will take me.

I confirmed the control room height max of 6'8", but the rest can have just under 7' as the basement is a 3" step up from the garage. Again I hope this will not pose a big problem.

I think I prefer the floorplan - at least it's a studio not a house ;)
better start working out how to build it rather than draw it
