Hi all ok im nearly finished my studio RE-construction thank god.
all thats left to do is the floor and acoustics.

im still confused as to what floor to get?
i was thinking semi-solid wood finish but would this make my room too live?
would carpet with a small wood section for the chair be better?

My room is 12'w x 21'l x 8'h which gives a ratio of 1:1.5:2.63

which leads me to my next question when to i check my rooms acoustics i want to build panel traps and a slot resonator but how do i tune them if i havent tested my room and how can i test it if its not finished ahhh what to do?

any advice would be much appraciated.

Bryan - for the slots try to aim to cover the broad low-mids. these are problem frequencies in almost every room and must be bought down in verbtime. Play with the calc untill you get those frquencies covered - you will probably need to build two or three different types to cover the whole range.

For the panel absorbers - I though Ethan has all the directions on his site??

The good news is you don't need to "tune" your room as you are thinking. All rooms need absorption at all low frequences, not just those related to the room dimensions. So just build as many panel traps and/or fiberglass absorbers as common sense dictates, and that will solve your problems.
