I've read plenty of posts regarding the concept of keeping power for audio gear that will be interconnected on the same phase. I understand how to do that but I do not understand *why* to do that.

Any insight or explanation would be tremendously helpful.

Also, and this is just a curious wondering since we have a fresh panel to work with, if you have a panel with everything installed and need to move a breaker to the other phase how do you do that since, usually, the wiring inside a panel is cut to length so that it enters the box and terminates at the breaker with no extra length? Can you just 'pigtail' extention wires?

Mostly to isolate other items such as lighting, refrigerators, etc from the circuit.

Yep. Just get yourself some nuts, strippers, and wire, and extend it. And don't touch the buzz bar or main feed, you'll be fine.

Thanks for the information! We don't have to worry about the extensions as we are putting in a new panel for the studio. It was just a curiosity question.
