Ive reading this forum every night since I found it, before I found this forum I had a studio, i rented, it was soundproofed to a degree...

I gave it up cause of the rent, then my dad took pitty on me and let build a studio, a shed, up the top of the garden. I started ages ago, I have the outside stud style walls framed with 2x3s......since finding this forum I have practically halted consruction!

I have posted a few drawings up, all of which met with much disaproval from the experts, and after reading everything here and more, i can see why.

Situation

-I will be playing drums in this shed, they will be the loudest i will be.
-the nearest nieghbours are 20 feet away.
- the loadest noise apart from me playing will be the birds tweeting away so its quiet outside.
- i need the best Isolation I can get without pouring concrete walls. floors I can do but not walls.

Questions/confusion

-How am I gonna this kinda of isolation.....???

Please just tell me what I need to cause my brain is killing me....to be honest....

Sam, I feel your pain (and I'm not just saying that) - with all the conflicting info out there, some perpetrated by people wanting to sell you THEIR "magic bullet" and some "parroted" by people who took their word for it, etc...

Over a year ago I started trying to help a couple of guys from your general area, and discovered that different areas of the world have DRASTICALLY different pricing on some of the materials normally used for "soundproofing" - which really should be called "isolation", since there is no such thing as sound "proof" - (It's like calling what police wear in some areas "bullet-proof" - you show me a "bullet-proof" vest and I'll show you a "bigger gun" that can kill whoever's wearing it )

Anyway, here's what we need to do to get you "back on track" - first, you need to read and answer ALL the points in the "read before you post" that you possibly can, PLUS post a list of the materials you already have on hand (include thickness, dimensions and quantity), then a rough idea of the price (in your area) of MDF, chipboard, gypsum plasterboard, and any OTHER high-mass building materials such as brick, concrete, or??!?

On your drawings, I'm not quite able to read a few of the labels - if you could post a list/description of the materials, from outside to inside, following the wall drawing, it would help.

If you're on a PC, I can help with getting more use out of the included Paint program; let me know if this will help.

Overall, you're on the right track; be sure to specify just which things you've shown are already built, and which are still in the planning stage.

I just dont want mess this up, I need some where to play my drums, if only i had rich parents ey, with a big house in the country!, must be thankfull I can do this though.
