Advice needed on choosing aussie fibreglass

Hi all,

My first post. This forum is GREAT! Thankyou to everyone who has posted. I've learnt A LOT!

I have narrowed my search for fibreglass in Australia down to Insulco "semi-rigid" (32kg/m3) and "high-density" (48kg/m3).

I need advice on which version to get regarding thickness and facing. The 100mm (4 inch) doesn't appear to come with any facing. Should I have a perforated foil (10% open area) or black matt facing to help control highs absorbtion? (This may mean combining 2x2inch layers to equal 4inches depth.)

My room is 12.8 x 12.8 x 11 feet.

Here are the coefficients for the Insulco products.
125 250 500 1000 2000 4000
SEMI-RIGID 50mm plain 0.41 0.84 1.02 1.25 1.22 1.16
matt 0.46 0.91 1.06 1.12 1.12 1.11
(perforated)foil 0.36 0.87 1.12 1.19 1.07 1.00
100mm plain 0.62 1.19 1.21 1.07 1.05 1.05
HIGH DENSITY 50mm plain 0.38 0.73 1.20 1.17 1.15 1.11
(perforated)foil 0.35 0.76 1.18 1.13 1.03 0.9
75mm plain 0.55 1.15 1.23 1.09 1.12 1.12
100mm (not available but 25mm is)

Thankyou to anyone who can help me make a decision. I am new to this and don't know if I am being too anal about choosing which product.

Cheers,
Andrew

The 48 kg/m^3 with no facing at 4" thickness (total) is best for what you are describing.

Can you place some prices and where can you get the best prices for. I found insulation to be really expensive here in OZ.

Andrew - I've used the blackfaced version as it doesn't show through any cloth cover you may have.
