703 new price variance!

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

The moral of the post being: shop around and ask for "similar products!"

Do they make a 4# fibrex rock wool?

If you guys think its just as good as 703 at 1/3 the price, guess what I'm getting :D

Yes Fibrex makes a 4 lb / cu ft rockwool.

Did you miss something in my post? Call the local dealers looking for the best product/price. In my neck of the woods Roxul safe n Sound is the price bargain being about one third 703 in similar thickness. The Safe N Sound is 3.5" thick, but the absorption is comparable to 703.

Call your local commercial insulation companies and ask.

I can get prices on any type of insulation I need, and I have 3 large suppliers in my area that I deal with regularly.

I think the question is. For 2"- 4#/cuft goods, which is better or are they equal, for broadband absorption? 703,or rock/mineral wool?

They are comparable. Interchangeable in acoustic absorption characteristics.
