Anyone who's spent more than a few hours reading around here should be able to smell this load of BS a mile away... Steve

I'm going to confess to something. That site (or one an awfully lot like it) caught my eye a year or so ago, shortly before I came across this forum.
I actually believed some of the claims and I came
very close to buying some of the crap! However, thanks to this forum and its knowledgeable and helpful membership, I "came to the light" and learned the truth!
Any other "close call suckers" out there?

I just spotted this on that page:
The ripoff artists at soundproofing.org wrote:"We'll take our Radio Shack sound-level meter ($35) and make some measurements to try to measure the overall noise level at some fixed places away from the garage while the band is playing. (A car horn and a 12 volt battery will also work well as a sound source)."
Riiiiight... Because we
all know that a full band playing is
just like a two tone car horn!
And this is classic!
The ripoff artists also wrote:Some movable, insulated panels surrounding the loudest instruments may be needed to cut down the sound level at that point even more . . . Simply take a 4'X8' sheet of soundboard and cut it into two 4' sections. Hinge them together (they will be easier to store that way), and cover them with soundproofing mat. Laid on their sides, they form a wide "V" on it's side. This tends to block the loudest musical instruments at the source".
Boy, I sure wish I knew about that technique before busting up my garage slab!!
Someone needs to buy a crapload of their stuff, hire pros to do the installation, and then
sue their asses when it fails.

Not to mention; if your Rat Shack sound level meter even WIGGLES outside, you've NOT done things the way I suggested

or you're having grenade launcher practice
inside...
