retrofitting a stage snake into an adjacent room??

Any suggestions on getting a 16 channel snake into an adjacent room. It is a double 2x4 wall. Should I put an oversized hole through the wall, put the snake through then stuff it with insulation? Will that be a problem area as far as sound leakage? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Probably get better results by de-soldering all the wires in the stage box, drilling a barely adequate hole, then (after making sure the snake has enough length to go where you want it) caulking thoroughly (butyl or acoustic caulk) around the cable, and re-soldering all the wires in the stage box.
This would mean careful labeling of all wires (and additional notes if necessary) but you do NOT want a large hole thru the wall stopped only by insulation, it will let a LOT of sound through... Steve

Here's a thought. Cut a hole in the wall large enough to fit the snake and all its connectors through. In theory, if you feed one cable at a time, the hole doesn't have to be much larger than the diameter of all the cables plus one connector. Then, take a couple of 2x4 pieces, bore a "half hole" on one edge of each 2x4, and cover the hole on the wall with the 2x4 pieces, surrounding the cables with the bored half holes, making a "whole hole" that the cables pass through. Obviously, copious amounts of acoustic sealant throughout.
Advantage: easier than having to resolder all the connections, and somewhat undoable.
Disadvantage: An ugly block on the wall -- which, depending on where it is done, may not be an issue at all.
Even if it doesn't work for your case, maybe it will for someone else.

I don't think I have enough hair left on my head to pull out if I attempted the re-soldering method..... probably the best route though. I could however, spend more time on the "cover" and make it out of something more attractive than a 2 x 4 maybe...... I could also attempt to replace the drywall cutout and get crafty with some mud/tape. Thanks for getting the wheels turning!
