Building a studio out of my garage.

Hi, first time here on the board and I'm already researching a ton. Here's the deal, I moved into a house with a garage dimension of 17' x 56'. Building a studio, but I figure the first thing to do is design a floor plan. I could use a lot of help since I've never done this before. Here's a drawing of the garage as it is right now. There are pictures as well. What would be your first thoughts as to where to put the control room, main live room, iso booths, etc?

This is just to get an idea of what I'll be getting into. I'll be building it myself with the help of family and friends. I'm on a budget and this will be a long project to finish. I'm building this studio to record music, but I'd also like to do post-production as well (eventually want a 5.1 setup in the control room).

OK - firstoff - please don't post 2.5meg pictures because all those with dailup (like me) will not bother to wait the 15 mins it takes to open the page. (I've recompressed your pics.)

Please check out this site and look at some of the plan options.

Then look at the studios under construction site

then get back to us.

We are here to help you design your studio - not to design it for free.

cheers
john

Thanks john, I'll keep the pic sizes down. It's easy to forget when I've got such a fast connection. :)

As for the design, I jumped the gun a bit. I will be designing it and asking everyone here for help. I'm going to do some research before I present my first design idea.
