I have a question on panel traps
I would like to build deep bass panel traps for the sides of my control room and am wondering if i could angle them so there is more air space in the front ( closer to speakers) and the normal amount in the back
I am thinking about 8 to 10" in the front and 4" in the back spaced over a 4' length.
I have room for at least 5 traps on each side
That would give me the angled sides for my room
also i may alternate with 703 panels

That would work; much narrow than 4' though, and you'd not get the flutter control because the width would just "average" .
Another effect of doing this is a broader frequency range; calculate min and max depths, about half an octave beyond these values either side will be effective range - I've included the calculation formula below.. Steve

Cool,, what if instead i build slat wall panels with the frame sealed to the drywall and angled. Would it be better to build 4' panels angled . starting at 8" down to 2 " like i have seen on this site.
Or could i build 8' slat wall panels angled starting at 10" down to or 2"
(I think i read somewhere on here that you don’t recommend that.)
With all the hangers in the ceiling and at the rear wall of the control room i should have enough bass trapping so
I think i will go with the slat wall and alternate with 703 panels for the side walls.
Please let me know if you think this would be ok.
Thanks again,
steve

Steve, sorry but somehow I missed this; which slatwall panels do you mean, the first ones you mentioned or the second? Actually, either will work since both exceed the 1:10 splay needed for flutter control (6 degrees or more each side) - athough, if for some reason (live room, perhaps) you only do one side of the room, you'd need more angle...
