well at the threat of being a newbee i was wondering if this product has been discussed.. talking to a rep they suggested this material as a superior product for building bass traps...i found it at acousticalsurfaces.com..also they build custom baffles etc.

it doesn't quite look right ot me, the density is low - only 1.2pcf - and for them to acheive the reported numbers they do with 4" is weird......

I also find it strange that the bass buster has those reported numbers on their site - yet when I check for the actual test data - i don't see any for the bass buster.

For it to out preform 4 and 6 pcf rockwool - or 4pcf fiberglass to this extent would surprise me tremendously.

That's the trouble with so many of these purveyors of products that claim noise reduction or acoustical benefits... One needs to be so cynical and engage advanced B.S. filtering to discover truth... And even then, it usually comes down to recommendations from those who have had positive personal experiences.

Too bad there's not some kind of certification that such products could apply for that would lend credibility to the claims and supposed test results.

I was checking over the numbers for this. They have an independant test of 2" (double layer) A mount giving numbers like .18 for 125 hz. Their test results seemed normal for this kind of material however the advertising numbers are inflated.

my problem is that they do not have test data for the "Bass Busters" product - and thus nothing for me to verify their claims with.........
