Hi all, been at this for years. We are running Roland VS 2480 with highend front end and lots of nice mics. This is it. We sink or swim. Had clients in here with decent results with a vocal booth and open studio. I would like to take it to the next level.

Here is yet another attempt... i think it's getting better, wanted to hide the pipes away by building a closet, but there may be other options... building an enclosure around it with baffling...

in any case, the space is tricky, the first design is how we've been using it with some success. There is some honkiness in the recordings probably from bass and midrange exhoes. Having V drums help, but may get acoustic drums one day.

The ceiling is about 7 ft tall + or -. There is carpeting throughout with 1/2 foam beneath. I will have diffusors in the ceiling since there is no room for vaulting.

I took apart the iso booth and decided to offset the wall separating it from the rest of the studio. And now it seems that I must go forward and think this through before I make a big mistake.

ok here is yet another iteration... i did this one in smart draw. I guess my advise it to read the bulletin before posting. duh. It looks pretty good so far. The door need to be changed... major work.

My first reaction is the attached, but I think your last drawing is along a better, albeit more expensive, approach. 12 ft is a bit short for a control room depth so hence my reaction to the last drawing.

BTW a small area of Auralex and a similar area of diffusion is not acoustic treatment.

Here is yet another attempt. I think it's good. Been reading up on slot resonators and bass traps. I haven't come up with the combinations of such but there's plenty of room for all that...

The studio grew another 4 feet to the left (north). I'm expanding into storage area. If it becomes absolutely necessary there is another 8 ft in that direction.

The vocal booth is all framed up and I've started the drywall. It sounds nice in there without any treatment. But I will deaden it before I'm done.

Yes - that's the way to go, much better control room layout and the extra depth will help.
