Soffit mounting active speakers...

Is there any problem to soffit mount active speakers, or should I have to find a way to cool the area where the built in amplifier is?
Or is best recommended for flush mounted monitors to use passive ones...?
Thank you very much.
Regards.

This depends partly on which speakers - the Mackies reportedly run a bit warm for this, but Giles has had his soffited for some time now with no problems, he loves 'em that way.
I would recommend a rear cooling channel though, for one thing any trapped heat, besides maybe damaging the amps, can escape through the FRONT and cause air in front of the speakers to change density, which can make your speaker sound really strange and unpredictable response.
Also, if your monitors can be left with the power switch in the ON position (or they're automatic) you should wire a separate outlet for them INSIDE the soffits, with the switch where you can get to it... Steve
