PM2000- switch for inputs or jumper in modules?

Hey everybody! This is Kevin, one half of Studio Natural in Orlando, FL

This is my first time posting, but I have enjoyed this forum for quite some time.

I just installed a PM-2000 in the one room studio we are building. We love the board, its look, preamps and eqs BUT its CH mic input is also its MTR return and the board's inserts are post eq :( .

for now we are going to interface it with a MOTU 24i/o
we would love to be able to simply record using the preamps and eq's to individual tracks (using the insert sends) then be able to use the board for its eq and filtering during mixdown, recording from the program outputs.

if the inserts were pre-eq and not just pre-fader we would be golden, as we won't be using them as inserts, we are just afraid of frying a module.

what can we to to fix this problem and get the studio running the way we want.

Thank you all,
Kevin Ohr

Hey, I'm not really familiar with the console you're using. I had a little trouble following your post, but from what I gather, you want to use the inserts to recieve the outputs from the MOTU? You could always use the software that is provided with the motu to set the levels low enough that you won't have to worry. Or, buy a few patchbays that you can use to switch inputs to the board, either for mic inputs or lines from the MOTU. With the patch bays, you would always be running all you inputs into the mic inputs, pre fader.

Or, dedicate a certain number of channels on the board for recording, and x number of channels for mixing, and run all you inputs into the mic inputs... Pre fader...

Or, rewire your studio everytime you're recording or mixing... not really an option...

take care,
