HDTV cables?

My studio's primary use will be post-production so each room will have a large LCD TV. Also one of my rooms may end up being a Avid video editing room.

I'm getting close to drywalling and need to get all of my permanent wiring in. I have run a ton of coaxial cable to each room but I'm wondering what other types of video cable should I run? I may want to be able to send HDTV signals from my control room to each room. What is the best way to do this?

I want to make sure my studio has the right wiring to keep up with the future of video editing. Any thoughts on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings,

Hi Def Video... Your best solution is probably going to be RGB (and HV if required).

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT! Your RGB cables need to ALL be the exact same length to any place your routing to (in terms of Red, Green, Blue).

Are you using the Belden Mini Coax, or another type (eg: RG6, 59 or other). I would suggest the Mini Coax, as you can fit more through troughs or conduits.

Are you routing everything to a Video Patchbay? I would recommend it. And terminate all connections w/ BNC.

I wouldn't worry about HDMI or some of the other formats as they can not be of significant length (I believe HDMI is 15' and also runs digital audio).

For video equipment, you will notice that most everything has RGB connections.

Do not run "Composite" connections. One, you don't have the flexibility. Two, it's maximum resolution is 480 (No HD here). And Three, it just doesn't look good.

Be sure to run cables for "SYNC". Be sure to run cables for "Black Burst". Etc...

And if there's doubt on something, just be sure you can run additional cables if required.

You also may need to run RS232 or other RS*** cables for any remotes or other syncronization functions.
