Hi,
i am looking for a bit of direction/advice as to the placement of wall absorbers, ceiling clouds etc. And also if it would be possible to build my own cheaper? I am currently looking at the auralex roominator set, but any other product recommendations will be appreciated.
I have recently finished a small single garage studio build and have a couple of superchunk bass traps in either corner behind my monitors on the wall in front. On the walls either side of me i hung a couple of 1x2 foot frames stuffed with standard insulation. And thats it really. The room has a window on the far wall behind me but i have quite a lot of vinyl storage up to and in front of that. I also have a set of turntables and a sofa either wall just behind me. Hope you get the picture!
Anyway, from what i remember from the last time i was on this site (rods book and a lot of input from other members helped me grately, so thanks for that!) my room dimensions are pretty horrendous (6m long x 2.2 wide x 2.2 high – approx.), but i just have to live with that.
So, what would you recommend to treat this room and make it a bit better sounding. I don’t want to totally deaden the space (probably impossible anyway) but any additional info will be helpful.
Also, if you need any additional info just ask.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Room Treatment Help
Ok, cheers!
In the meantime, how does my layout look?
Can you add reflection lines/points for me?
I take it wall absorbers should be in line with head height/monitoring position?
Should i add ceiling to wall corner traps or a ceiling ‘cloud’ above my head?
Any info will be helpful.

Fine, assuming the speakers are firing the longer way down the room.elektrasoul wrote:In the meantime, how does my layout look?
This article explains two ways to figure out where reflection absorbers should go:Can you add reflection lines/points for me?
How to set up a room
Yes, but with overlap. Reflection "points" are not really points but areas.I take it wall absorbers should be in line with head height/monitoring position?
Yes to both. No room is ever perfectly flat. So the more traps you add, the closer you'll get.Should i add ceiling to wall corner traps or a ceiling ‘cloud’ above my head?

Re: Room Treatment Help
also consider your middle and high frequency response in the equation - you need to ensure the trapping doesn't result in a dead room - take into account the mode and refection control as well as the balance across the frequency spectrum.
