Okay, so today came a HUGE set of "acoustic slabs" that I ordered, but they sent me "Super Glass" wool ones instead of the rockwool that I ordered.
Before I send them back, I was wondering what the difference is, just incase they're better. All I've ever been told is rockwool because of its density.
Any help is appreciated.
Rockwool or "Super Glass"?

All I can say is look at the Label on the stuff they dellivered then go to the Superglass online site
http://www.superglass.co.uk/product_dat ... tificaton/
and compare the specifications of the product with that to what you ordered.
(You'll probably be seeing Product code 5511 or 5512 or perhaps 5552 if it's the roll type)
Superglass is a UK based manufacturer of mineralwool insulation and as such, would have products comparable to Rockwool.

Probably not what you want. The density is about half of what is useful for acoustics. 10Kg/m^3.
Others chime in please.

Re: Rockwool or "Super Glass"?
Agreed. That does seem a little on the light side! But what really matters isn't so much the pure density, but rather the gas flow resistivity, which might be OK if this is some type of synthetic fiber. However, if it really is fiberglass, then that's too light. Like Eric said: It should be at least twice that density, even 3 times perhaps, if it is fiberglass.Probably not what you want. The density is about half of what is useful for acoustics. 10Kg/m^3.

It sounds (no pun intended) as if it would be in your best interests to send it back. Hopefully this process is not too lengthy. However, I have always felt that getting things set up right in the beginning is of the utmost importance when it comes to any type of soundproofing or sounding design. There should be no shortcuts in design. Sometimes this is a tedious process but well worth it in the end.
