Building a studio...

Hey there experts!

I was curious what you fellas would recommend as far as monitors go in the 2k range. I don't know if I will be able to soffit them, and would soffitting be good on a flat wall? I have taken a peek at most of the studio designs done by John, and they are mostly having the monitors set at what looks like about a 30 degree angle to the listener.

I was first looking to get the mackies but then after reading some of the posts, I'm not so sure from the people's opinions on here, assuming they are better informed than magazines, etc.
