Question on JBL Control 10 speakers (circa 1991)

My office is selling a TON of gear. They have a set of JBL Control 10 speakers. I'm pretty sure these are live PA speakers, but our old CFO bought them for studio monitors. He's a tech guy, and maybe knows something I don't. By looking at the specs of these, can someone tell me if they would work for some semi flat studio monitors?

The Control series are mostly used for commercial sound system installs...eg: restaurants, retail, etc. And if they a "T" after it, it means there's a 70 volt transformer. Otherwise it should be 8 ohm.

We sell alot of the Control 25's where I work. You won't have much for low end response on those little one's. They'd be good to put out on your deck or patio...

If they're all you have, then they're better than nothing. But even some inexpensive home stereo speakers would probably work better.

I plan on buying some studio monitors soon, it's just since we're moving (house) we're having to spend $$ on other things, so I want something that will hold me over until I get some KRK's or some Events.

Get a used pair of NHT Super One's, or Super Zero's if the wallet pinch is greater than the need for bottom end. Probably $250 and $175 respectively, plus an amp.

Most underrated speakers out there, wonderful for inexpensive studio monitors. Having also owned the Events, I would say they are much, much better speakers than any of the Event line.
