sandproofing - do you see what i did there?

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Post by Paulkent »

I'm just messing around with cheap ideas for sound proofing, anybody seen any plans or had any ideas for using sand as sound insulation?

i,e any research into sands acoustic and dampening properties or acoustic tiles replacing the RW3/ 703 with sand?

apart from the rediculous weight (and the crane you'd need to hire to lift it into the studio).... seems like a cheap idea..

Seriously, this is one of the reasons I'm so proud of our membership - I almost NEVER have to actually "moderate", just help out like the rest of the guys... Steve

There's an old newspaperman quote "Never pick a fight with a man who buys ink by the ton." (there's a few variations of this, but I think the original may have been Mark Twain)

See? Not only no flames, but quick-witted repartee AND useful information (sorry, too early in the morning for rhymes)

Can't always get ALL the elements in each post, but it doesn't stop me from trying - in fact, my wife says I try her patience on a daily basis :? Wonder what she meant by that... Steve

Hey now, Eric and Ethan get into it from time to time. LOL

But they do it respectfully with Data and not personal insults. LOL

We all just keep it professional. We love what we do. :)
