RSIC clips

Hi All,

Assuming I have correctly constructed all the other components of my two room basement studio (floated floor, double walls, sound locks), will I achieve a significantly higher level of isolation if I use RSCI-1ext04 clips rather than garden variety RC on my ceilings? I will pony up the $$ to get the higher degree of isolation. I will be recording guitars/drums/bass/etc.

It's been debated by several serious minds on several boards that the possibly 1-3 dB of claimed increase in STC (no difference at lower frequencies to speak of) may be due to the fact that the RSIC clips and hat channel increase the air gap by about 1/2 to 3/4" - for ceilings, that system will be stronger, which is necessary if you go with more than 2 layers of wallboard. Other than that, kind of a tossup - and at $5 each every 4 feet on top of the price of hat channel, it raises the cost quite a bit... Steve
