Most frontwall flushmounted speakers are mounted at 51 degrees to not shoot straight into the opposite corner. But how high can they sit?
I know humans are crap at hearing vertical stuff. (Probably because we haven't had any flying enemies in a long, long time.)
and we are very good at hearing horisontal stuff. (Cocktail party effect etc.)
So it's recommended to keep nearfields straight and not on their side (as the sound field changes more as you move around in the sweet spot.
BUT then they usually cover the mains, not a good thing and probably the reason why even very expensive and profesionally designed studios keep their Ns10:s on their side.
Is it a good practise to mount your main monitors high over your nearfields? And how high can you go?
Best regards /Toby
