hello all,
This forum is great btw. I have learned alot from reading some of these postings. Anyways...I have a question about sliding glass doors. I've seen a few questions similar, but not the same I think. Is a single sliding glass door even close to enough between the control room and the drum room? Logic would tell me no. I have attached my initial design (one of Johns). I love the layout, but what could I do to isolate the drum room more from the CR. Any input would be appreciated.
Door question

You could use two sliders, at least a foot apart; they would need to be NOT thermopane, but single heavy glass in each door. This would maintain good line of sight.
Better isolation would be to use two solid core doors with not too large windows in each, again heavy single glass in each, and still at least a foot between them. Not as good communication this way.
Best isolation would be to not put doors there at all, and make the drummer walk all the way around through the live room to get there; if you're the drummer, you probably won't like this last idea. If not, and the drummer's your brother-in-law,
For communication, you would need to either put two heavy glasses in the wall (but NOT operable) or get some web-cams and set up 2-way video between rooms. This doesn't give a very good "vibe", so most people won't go this way... Steve
