Hi,
This might be a easy one but i search the forum with no results.
I have bass issues in my small room. I've read abt plugging the ports, but not sure what it meant.
Are the ports referring to the two holes in front?
I have the M1 Active placed on standing position with the alesis logo facing outwards and the two holes inwards.
Thanks and Regards,
[Charles]

Re: newbie Alesis M1 Active Qs
Let me answer my own question.
right after posting the above, i went to alesis site to download the manual (I couldnt find mine anywhere).. and found the answer in less than 5min!!
i realised my speakers are placed the opposite way. it is recommended that the holes (ports) should be placed outwards and the logo inwards..
but somewhere in the manual it states if it is placed "my way", there will be a wider stereo image / more sweet spots for more people. i guess it doesnt matter for my case coz my room is small.
so before i swap the positions and plug one port with some sponge, anybody want to stop me?
Thanks & Regards,
[Charles]

Charles,
The ports are only involved with the low frequency reproduction and have nothing to do with imaging. They're only referring to the ports as reference points for the speaker positioning. You don't want to plug any of the ports or your low frequency performance will be compromised.

Speakers, cont...
Meaning, it's probably better to treat the room a tad, would be my guess.
Pile a few comforters, blankets, quilts and dirty laundry behind you, along the back wall, and see if that helps any.
If it helps, try to figure out a more permanent (and aesthetically pleasing) arrangement.
If it doesn't... *shrug*... do some laundry...
