Great info but a little much for now. I think I will stick with two channels for now since my focus is really music in the stereo world, but thank you for the info I will keep on file.
I had a q come up about main monitors I have found a number of studios that have placed their mains on concrete blocks that extend in to the foundation. This kind of kills the advantages of having a floating floor. Any thoughts?

When this is done for SERIOUS, the speaker pedestals are SEPARATE pours from structure; either that, or the entire pedestal is rested on elastomer isolators, the combination of which lowers resonance of the pedestal/speaker combination to around 6-8 hZ, so that by 20 hZ you're entirely above system resonance and the speakers are effectively isolated from EVERYTHING except the air coupling to drivers. Even the baffle extensions (soffits to some) while very close to touching the edges of the speakers, do NOT actually touch. They do, however, need to be within about 1/4" and EXACTLY flush with the face of the cabinets, and the gaps filled with light insulation to minimise any higher frequency diffraction at the edge of the speaker box... Glad to help... And I'm glad you're doing this "by the book."vair327 wrote:Well it seems that my design will not pass the inspection (those damn vents) thanks for helping me remember the vents sharward, you saved me from wasting time. . .
When you get frustrated by code compliance issues, you'll surely find a sympathetic ear here.

Sure steve
The green walls are the same as my cross section post. The space you are refering to is a entrance and hallway(3.5'). The door at the top right is the entrance door ext wall will be standard construction int wall will be a double layered sheet rock wall instead of the osb. From there it follows the wall design to a tee. This space gives me a way to enter the studio with directly exposing the control rooom to the weather and gives the talent a place to put unused equipment out of the weather. It also gives me a place to place the HVAC unit and the attic access door(theres that code thing again)

OK, re-phrase time; I'm really short on usable time ATM, so what I need is a SKETCH showing, layer by layer, the outside skin thru the wall into the hallway, then ditto thru the CR wall; sorry but it takes Way too much time to interpret WORDS as compared to a sketch, and i'm pushed as it is. I think your hallway will present a multi-leaf situation, 3 or 4 feet won't eliminate the "multi-leaf effect" so I'm trying to keep you advised of what it will do to your isolation... Steve
