Door Question

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Door Question

Post by Lbc »

My studio walls are going to be 2 2X4 framed walls w/2 layers of drywall on both outside faces. My plan for the door frames is to span the 2 2X4 wall's with a limp mass rubber type material around the frame to seal the air gap between the walls, then have two door frames that do not touch. Does this sound correct.

Not quite; you will actually get better performance overall if you use something more "breathable" around the doors, allowing the air between them to "vent" into and out of the space between the walls, moving thru the insulation in the process.

You're right about the two frames NOT wanting any hard contact between them - .. Steve
