Hangers

Post by ekki »

Hey.
Im reconstructing my my controlroom as a result from reading in this groups for a couple of months.
I wonder if 12 mm plywood will function as good as, or near as good as fiberboard in hangers for bass absortion..
I got 11 sheets of plywood for free from a carpenter.
Help apreziated :?

Plywood isn't quite as dense as hardboard, but it should still work; wrap it in insulation, duct tape every 2 feet (like a belt to hold your pants up) and hang them in a herringbone pattern inside your traps, close enough together so the insulation just touches from one panel to the next (it doesn't HAVE to touch, but it won't hurt) Steve
Soooo, when a Musician dies, do they hear the white noise at the end of the tunnel??!? Hmmmm...

Thanx a lot for the reply.
So there is hope.. Will the traps work hanging behind a fals wall in the rear of the controlroom? (sorry that i havent got drawing yet)
But the design will be: angeled side walls with slot resonator, a slot resonator in front and soft mount speakers in corner.. The room is 16x16 feet with a spooky height of 7 feet. Planning to have a soft woll in rear aprox 2 feet from exsisting rear wall. Does it help to have a fals ceiling with 50 mm rockwool acoustic sheets slooping down to aprox one feet in front to zero in back? (dont need to stand uprise in front of the contolroom). (the walls and ceiling are made of 16mm drywall on both sides of a wooden 6inc frame)

PS: i used to have a sort of LEDE controlroom that i buld myself. After reading in this forum i reworked my studio with the informatin given here.. The room sounded so "right" that i had to move my gear from my controlroom to my studio and start to rebuild my controlroom..
Thank you for the ispiration. :D

I dont know how your 30 cm bass trap looks like, but i guess u wont get a 180cmx50 cm hanger inside them... U can make them smaller, 30x120cm working in an higher frequency... but then again if your trap is 30 cm... its not gonna fit... But than again your bass trap can be 1000 cm wide for what I know... :) read here: http://www.saecollege.de/reference_material/index.html and check the link: absorbers
But than again I'm not a pro.. Just a disiple...
