concrete+big window drum/rehearsal room to be isolated

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Hey Dieter,

What you write about the sound bothering the neighbour....

When the police measures a level that is below the norm (50 dB(A) from 7.00-19.00, 45 from 19.00 - 23.00 and 40 between 23.00 and 7.00) I would think (as Steve suggested), that the bass amp are a bigger problem than the guitar (Unless you have Eddie van Halen or Angus Young in your band :-))

Could you elaborate on that?

well...when i first talked about it with him, and when he said he did have trouble with "the amps"... at that time i only rehearsed with 1 guitarist, not even a bassist or singer or whatever, just 1 lousy Peavy Bandit jadejade (pretty standard guitar amp)

when i talked about the police and stuff, that was at the bar (jeugdhuis) of my friend, i haven't gotten in that trouble yet

The gyprock + insulation material is very common here in Europe; in France it's called 'doublage'. Here's a link to some acoustic tests placing their product "Labelrock" against exterior walls. http://www.rockwool.fr/sw657.asp?pdtid= ... =3&idniv=6

It's actually normally glued on, not nailed or screwed, using a special type of adhesive (sort of like really sticky plaster). The built-in advantage is that you normally have 1-2cm of air space between the exterior wall and the insulation part of the 'doublage' wall.

The finish on the inside is done just like normal gyprock.

It's very quick, relatively inexpensive (compared to the metal stud frame solution), and sort-of easy. Sort-of because it's hard to make your joints line up perfectly to get a seamless wall. Been there, done that.

I'm not sure if that's it, i'm still trying to get more info about it

btw: glued on... that means it will probably not be usable anymore when i want to take it off and put it in an other place?

Well, if it's fiberglass insulation glued on to plasterboard, that's it. It's also done with polysterene insulation, which is less messy to work with, but doesn't have much acoustic value.

No, it's not really re-usable because the glue gets quite hard. If you rip it off the walls you rip out big chunks of the insulation.

Actually, it's a little hard to tell from the photo. It sort of looks right. what's the thickness of the plasterboard part and what is the thickness of the insulation part? A common size is "10+80", that is 1 cm plasterboard with 8cm of insulation glued on it.

Uh oh, i dont know for sure...
my buddy thinks the plaster is 0,5cm, while i think it was more like 1,5 cm  and the insulation something like 6cm

but we will measure it out sometime soon

ok guys, this is 1,0cm plasterboard with about 3,2cm insulation !

It would cost me 10€ for a panel, i should heave measured the panels to, but they are definatly like 2m high (tall) and something like 1~2m wide
I think this is very cheap, no?

And yes, i will read on about this stuff
