Vocal Booth or not? Any help appreciated

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Vocal Booth or not? Any help appreciated

Post by YungNuv »

I am ah Hip Hop artist and record at home in a farily large room we record/mix in the same room with no booth. the room is about 10x20 so it sounds pretty good with my Rode NT1000 mic.

I'm thinking about moving the recording equipment to another room with a walk in closet that will be used as a vocal booth the dimensions of the closet are 4.5'x4.5'x9. Any suggestions on whether these dimensions will be okay? I am looking to purchase acoustic foam from ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1

I'm still not sure whether to buy 2" or 4" the booth will be used mainly for hip hop vocals and punjabi vocals by several singers.

You can take a listen for yourself my page on myspace is

and these trax were done in the big room without the booth. I am also looking to purchase a Blue mic either dragonfly or Blueberry still deciding.
Any help would be great...Thanx
