Closing doors - roller/ball latches or something else?

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Closing doors - roller/ball latches or something else?

Post by JohnGardner »

Guys,

I have ordered two solidcore MDF doors without predrilling.

To save some coin I am making my own seals right around the door with neopreane strips glued to a small cleats as discribed in one of Knightflys stickies.

I am not sure how to get the door to seal up nice and tight against these seals seeing I don't want to drill holes though the door for a normal household door handle.

Are roller/ball latches the best thing?. I was thinking I could put two (top and bottom) one each door and then just screw pull handle on each side. This way I should be able to get a nice seal by pulling/pushing the door into place.

Am I on the right track?

Keith,
perfect again as per usual - just what I had in mind and will save me $200 on two drop seals.
Thanks
