I have a empty space 10x5 meters And I need some help

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

I have a empty space 10x5 meters And I need some help

Post by igorvst »

Hi my friends
I have this space i need to change into a studio.
the ceiling is going from 1.50 m in the ends to 3 m in the middle
My idea is to build a control room in one end, maybe 4 by 4 metres.
And to the side of the control room one vocal booth then 1x 4 metres who I would also use as storage room.
The ceiling is covered with bent iron so this is my main quiestion:
in the live room I think it´s the best to leave the room as it is starting at
1.50 m up to 3 m and then a little bit in the other side going back to 2.80 or so.
This space will have floor space of 6 m x 5 m .
Of coarse I will need to do some sound damping in this room.
But my main problem is the control room and vocal booth
as you can see in my drawing I put a door to the control room to the live room I was thinking this as a double door
But now I´m thinking of go to from the live room to the vocal booth and then into the control room??
Save me one door .
And also should I Build the controol room floating and maybe also the vocal booth??
So my thing is to do the best of what I Have for as little money as possible,
Also I draw this plan with everything sqeire But would it be better to have some parts of this space in different shape??
Thanks my friends I Count on your advise

Igorvst, welcome; I see by the lack of a location in your profile that you've not covered everything in the very top link in this forum -

http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3231

In it, we ask that you edit your profile (one of the links at the top of the page) to include your general location.

The other links will give you a good general idea of what works, and how - this reduces the amount of donated time I need to spend on each question, so I can use at least PART of my time to do my OWN projects :?

Your picture didn't post, but that may be a common problem; our webmaster is working on that. You might want to EDIT your post later and try again to add the picture... Steve
