Seperate Concrete Slab

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Seperate Concrete Slab

Post by musikman316 »

Where can I find pics of a studio under construction using seperate concrete slab, also some instructions... like; How big of a gap to make? What to fill the gap with? etc.

Thanks,

Certainly check out my thread -- specifically starting on page 33, which is when my buddy and I did the cuts and I jackhammered out my existing garage floor.

My project is still under construction. I'm getting ready to set forms. Thus, I have no "before" and "after" pictures to share yet -- just "before" and "during." ;-)

Do not miss page 40, where I go into a lot of detail about termite control as it relates to the gap between slabs. You're in Eastern Subterranean Termite Land! (I'm in Western Subterranean Termite Land myself.)

Also, be sure to catch my "Mason Industries' FSN Floating Floor Concrete Slab Test Data" thread. The feedback I received from that thread made me decide to do an isolated slab instead... Although I confess that the termite fears came later!
