Newbie needs help!

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Newbie needs help!

Post by texashorsetrader »

I am new to the board~! Have had a project studio in the past, but now am building out a 150 year old barn.. 3/4 of it will be studio....18 x 21 feet.

Somewhere on this board I found a diagram I believe done by John, that showed a drawing of an 18 x 24 room similar to what I want to do....the file I believe was rock_1.gif. I have tried to find it again but have been unsuccessful! I need a control room, a vocal booth and rest rehearsal area...anyone have any links at this site that could help? thanks so much!

Here it is
http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewt ... sc&start=0

Note to all users

The search feature on this forum is OK.

What really works good for me is Google. I've got the google tool bar installed in my browser, I type in what I'm looking for, hit "Search This Site" (while on this site) and very relivant links from this site pops up on a google page. I'm sure other search engines have a similiar feature. This method of search can be done without the google tool bar just by going to www.google.com and putting in:

site:www.johnlsayers.com rock_1.gif

Also with the Google tool bar I can scroll through the web page to my search words, they pop up as buttons in the google tool bar.

Aloha and welcome to the forum, Mike! :D

Congrats on your studio build!

Any chance you could:
Edit your profile to include your location. This is very important, because this is a worldwide resource, and as such, material costs and availability vary widely. For example, masonry is cheaper than gypsum in some parts of the globe, whereas it's the exact opposite in other regions.
This will really come in handy two or three posts down the road. It's also part of the forum guidelines: http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3231 Thanks!

Looking forward to your build!

Aloha 8)
