hi there, i am from the uk and looking for some basic advice on dividing 400 sq ft into 2 x 200sqft rehearsal rooms. the building is detached, and is made from breeze block, and is completly clear to start work. My main problem is deciding how to build the wall directly seperating the 2 rooms.
Both rooms will be used for loud rock bands (approx 110-120db i think is about right)
I have spoke with some building firms, and they have recommended the following;
Studio 'a' 2 layers of 15mm gyproc soundbloc plasterboard (acoustically better than standard 15mm plasterboard), affixed directly to a stud wall of 4"x2" timbers infilled with slabs of high density rockwall (100mm), on the adjacent side i will then use resiliant bars attached directly to the back of the stud work, which i will then affix 1 x layer of 15mm soundbloc p-board.
Has anyone got any better ideas on this setup??? i have a decent budget for this, but dont want to spend money on things i dont really need! friends etc have heard of using sheets of 18mm ply to line the walls also??? does this work???any help would be greatfully received!
thanks,
glen
