Google aquires Sketchup

Yup - google has bought Sketchup - the program will continue as is and get better, but it's nice to know it's secure with Google's backing.

I must admit, untill now have i only seen prime things come out of googles headquarters! Now we'll just sit back and hope that the program is going to get cheap, so i can actually afford it. Untill now i have formatted my computer 3 times to get another trial period

By the way, thanks for a great forum John, you've really helped me in my studio quests!

I agree about Google - google earth used to be a program you had to buy - until Google bought it.

The two companies got together when Sketchup was playing with adding 3D components to google earth. Apparently the staff all got on really well.

I think Google wants access to Sketchup's 3D capability and I wouldn't be surprised to see a google 3D browser plugin for viewing 3D files.

I have a lot of time for Google and they've recently shown they have integrity :)
